About Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana
At Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, our story began in 1925 with a commitment to family tradition, originality, and quality. Over the past 100 years, we’ve grown from our roots in New Haven to 17 locations, sharing our iconic New Haven-style apizzas (ah-beetz) with guests far and wide. Our grandfather, Frank Pepe, crafted pizzas using simple, time-honored recipes that have fed generations. Known for our signature white clam pizza and crispy, chewy, charred crust, we’re proud to be one of the nation’s oldest and most respected pizzerias, offering a truly authentic experience at every location.

In New Haven, the busiest hours are Friday and Saturday evenings and any night with a big game, when quoted delivery times can stretch past an hour; ordering before 5 p.m. or picking up yourself avoids the wait. Delivery radiuses are small, often two to five miles, and a minimum order plus a delivery fee is normal, with a tip of a few dollars for the driver on top. Lunch specials such as two slices and a drink, or a personal pie, are the cheapest way to eat at most shops across Connecticut on weekdays. Toppings are priced per item and half-and-half pies are usually free to request. Gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese are increasingly common but often cost a few dollars extra, and cross-contact in a shared oven is standard unless the shop says otherwise.

New Haven is in Connecticut, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New Haven peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. My wife and I have been coming to New Haven for pizza on our way back from vacation for the past 5 years. I truly think Frank Pepe’s is the best pizza New Haven has to offer. Our experience this year was great! The hostess was friendly and immediately accommodating of our larger party. We typically get the tomato pie, but tried the pepperoni pizza this year & we were very pleased. Can’t wait to visit again!

If you’re in Connecticut, Frank Pepe is definitely worth the stop. The Margherita pizza was my favorite—simple, fresh, and full of authentic flavor with a perfectly crispy crust. I also tried the clam and shrimp pizza, which was a completely new experience for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the seafood worked surprisingly well and made for a unique pizza I’d happily order again. The Chicken Diavolo was another standout with great flavor and just the right amount of spice. I also had the Italian Spritz, which was refreshing and paired really well with the food. Overall, everything tasted fresh and lived up to the hype. Great food, a classic atmosphere, and definitely a place I’d come back to try more from the menu.

I went to this location yesterday and had the best pizza of my life. I ordered the seasonal fresh tomato pizza with pepperoni and it was amazing! The restaurant has so much history, cute and our wait staff was so kind. We are so lucky to have this gem in CT.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana was definitely worth the experience. Really good pizza with that classic coal fired taste they’re known for. I gave the pie an 8.8, my wife gave it a 6.7, so your experience may vary depending on what style of pizza you like. Service was good and our server was engaging, friendly, and helpful throughout the meal. One thing I really loved was the history of the place. The pictures on the walls and the old school feel made it more than just a pizza stop. Cool atmosphere and a spot every pizza fan should probably try at least once.

AMAZING PIZZA!!!! ————> I have traveled all over the world to try the best pizza there is to offer, this is good pizza. The crisp crust, the simple yet rich tomato sauce, and delicious pepperoni makes this a slice to behold! If you look at the line and see that it is rather long don’t be scared as there’s a take away building just around the corner! I came to New Haven from Utah just to try this and Sally’s down the street and between the two Frank’s made a better pie. I would recommend trying both as they were both good!
